What to do if...

At the start of the season with all the preperation for getting on the water let us take a few moments to consider the basics and state of the equipment being used Nicola pearson the RNLI co-ordinator for Wales had the following tips

  • Check the Weather and tides before undertaking any trips
  • Know the limitations of both the vessel and crew
  • Make sure you have the correct equipment especially safety equipment
  • Wear your lifejacket
  • Always take warm clothes it may be warm when you go but it can get cold very quickly
  • Tell someone on the shore where you are going and when you will be back
  • If you feel your getting into trouble call the coastguard sooner rather
than later, the lifeboat would rather be turned back than not get to you in time.
